Pallets and pallet collars are used for the transport and storage of goods. The main advantage of standard pallets and pallet collars is their standard size and, in addition, the use of a pallet speeds up the loading and unloading of loads in both road and rail transport. The use of pallets also allows efficient handling of goods in warehouses. Pallet collars and pallets can also be made to your own dimensions.
The main parts of the pallets are the deck, the spacers and the bottom. In a wooden pallet, the intermediate supports (or one long intermediate support) and the lowest bottom support form an elongated leg. There are usually three legs on a pallet, or two on small one-pallet pallets. The top of the deck is usually a row of parallel planks, typically with 5-9 planks, more in large single planks. In standard pallets, there are wide gaps between the deck boards, but closed deck pallets are also produced.
Pallets can vary in design, but there are usually two types of pallets. Pallets can be what is known as a skid pall et or a perimeter pallet. A skid is good for handling because it can be driven underneath from two directions without obstruction, even by a pallet truck, such as a forklift truck or other similar handling equipment.
The platform is also resistant to heavy loads, as it has a base plate on all sides, which improves the load-bearing capacity of the platform.
The handling of pallets is influenced by the structure of their base , and base structures can be divided into two different categories in terms of handling characteristics. A four-sided pallet is one where each side of the pallet is equipped with handling openings for the forklift horns. If the leg spacers are completely closed, i.e. without openings, the platform is a double deck platform.
The EUR pallet measures 800mm x 1200mm and is identified by the EUR stamp on the side of the pallet. The EUR pallet is what is known as a standard pallet and weighs between 20 and 22kg. EUR pallets can last for many years and can also be repaired if necessary. EUR pallets are also standardised for repair, so that even after repair they meet the expected dimensions. All EUR pallets delivered to Finland meet the general standard dimensions.
The FIN pallet measures 1000mm x 1200mm and is identified by the FIN stamp on the side of the pallet. The pallet is what is known as a standard pallet and typically weighs around 25kg. FIN pallets can last for many years and can also be repaired if necessary. They are also standardised for repair so that even after repair they will still meet the expected dimensions. All FIN pallets delivered to Finland meet the general standard dimensions.
Power pallets come in a variety of sizes, the most common being 400mm x 600mm and 600mm x 800mm. Power pallets are most commonly used in both industrial and shop environments and are therefore often referred to as shop pallets. The construction of a pallet is generally the same as a EUR or FIN pallet, but the 400mm x 600mm pallet or "stacker" is different from a typical pallet. All pallets delivered to Finland meet the general standard dimensions.
Pallet collars are an accessory available for pallets. The pallet collar consists of four low wooden walls, hinged at the ends to form a frame. The main use of the pallet collar is with EUR, FIN and pallets to enable the pallets to be used for a wide range of storage and transport applications.
